Bird watching

You are able to see and count most of the birds in the Randu meadows - a trail and a bird watching tower is waiting for you!

The Randu Meadows are a nature reserve covering the area of Vidzeme seaside from Ainazi till Kuivizi. Here the 200 ha area is home to one third of Latvian plant species or approximately 600 species, including 37 species that are rare and endangered in Latvia and other European countries.

The Randu Meadows are also an internationally acclaimed bird migration and nesting ground. A trail and bird observation tower was opened here in 2006.The absolute Latvian record of observed bird species was set the same year – 114 species.
